In the tip-off event for the OPS Jamboree Tournament, the Lady Eagles came out fired up to start their season. An impressive 24-1 first quarter got the team off to a fast start and they never looked back as they put away the Bryan Bears.
The Eagles used a starting lineup that had 4 freshman and 1 senior. The inexperience did not phase the Eagles. Freshman forward Aaniya Webb led all scorers with 12 points. She was joined by sophomore Nyanuar Pal (11 points) and freshman Claire Williams (10 points) in double figures. Overall, eight eagles contributing in the scoring effort.
The Eagles used a strong defense (19 steals) to start their offense. Generating 24 points off Bryan turnovers. When Central players did miss, there was often a teammate crashing the glass to put it back in. The Eagles dominated the glass 44 to 24. Grabbing nearly 62% of their offensive rebound opportunities and 69% of their defensive rebound opportunities.
The bench for the Eagles was also impressive scoring 22 points.
